授業概要 / Course Description: This course is designed to prepare students for the standardized English language tests. The main purpose of this course is to provide an opportunity for those who have already taken or are well prepared for the TOEFL/IELTS to further develop their skills.　Students who are considering or preparing for the TOEFL/IELTS are not eligible to take this course. Please register for "English Language Study through TOEFL/IELTS I".

The training provided in this course is not simply test-taking strategies; rather, the course focuses on building one's general academic English skills as foundation for those who plan to study aborad in the near future.

このコースは、英語の標準的なテストに備えるためのものです。このコースでは、TOEFL・IELTSをすでに受験したことがある、もしくは受検にむけた準備に十分に取り組んでいる者に対してさらにスキルアップの機会を提供することを主な目的としています。TOEFL/IELTSをこれから考える・準備しようとする学生は本科目の履修はできません。「TOEFL/IELTSを通した英語学習 I」を履修してください。

このコースで提供されるトレーニングは、単なるテスト対策ではなく、近い将来、海外留学を計画している人のための基礎となる一般的な学術英語能力の構築に重点を置いています。

★このクラスの履修と、 TOEFL/IELTSを通した英語学習 Iとの併行履修はできません。

授業は全て英語で行われます。履修する学生は以下の語学力（相当）を必要とします：
GTEC 180以上260未満
TOEFL ITP 430以上505未満
TOEFL iBT 40以上60未満
TOEIC 375以上580未満
IELTS 4.5
英検準２級および2級
CEFR A2-B1

・本科目は、入学時及び２年進級時に受験しているプレースメントテスト（GTECまたはTOEFL ITP）のスコアを利用し、履修者が定員を超過した場合は上記スコア要件に合致していない学生から優先的に削除されます。本科目の受講を希望しており、GTEC受験以降に上記のスコアに相当する語学力を取得した者は、事後抽選日の2日前（土日祝日を除く）までに各種テストの証明書コピーを国際教育支援室まで提出してください。また、スコア要件に合致している学生で定員を超過した場合は、無作為抽選となります。

・上記スコア以上を取得している場合は、ぜひさらなるレベル向上を目指してModule1~8を履修してください。なお履修に困った場合は、国際教育支援室に相談してください。

This class may adopt COIL practice (Collaborative Online International Learning), in which students will connect online with overseas students to work collaboratively to complete a project. COIL aims to provide learning opportunities for the students to gain desirable employability qualities, such as intercultural competency, digital literacy, leadership skills, ect. *For more information about COIL for this course, please directly contact the instructor or ask them at the first class.
本科目は「COIL（Collaborative Online International Learning：海外との協働学習）」を取り入れる場合があります。COILでは海外の学生とオンラインで繋がり、チームプロジェクト等を通して協働学習を行います。COILを実践することで、異文化理解力、デジタルリテラシー、リーダーシップ力等これからのグローバル人材が必要とされる能力の向上を目的としています。※COILを実施するかどうかは、担当講師に直接問い合わせるか、授業初日に確認してください。

(2) To gain advanced general academic English skills for study abroad
(3) To improve overall English skills: reading, writing, listening, and speaking
(4) To learn how to read quickly and take notes eﬀectively
(5) To cultivate routines for self‒study in order to reach at the target score in the test

Online Collaboration Project (COIL/VE, Use of Open Education Resources, etc.) may take place in different weeks of the semester due to coordination with an overseas institution.
授業時間外学習 / Expected work outside of class: Students are expected to review and work on the assignment before attending the class every week. They should spend approximately 1‒2 hours studying outside of class in order to prepare for each class lesson.

成績評価の方法・基準・評価 Grading Policies / Evaluation Criteria

方法 / Grading Policies: 定期試験を行わず、平常試験(小テスト・レポート等)で総合評価する。

基準・評価 / Evaluation Criteria・Assessment Policy: The expected criteria for each task indicated above will be notiﬁed by the instructor in advance throughout the course. Students are expected to attend class regularly and meet all requirements set by the instructor. Those who are absent more than two thirds of total number of classes may not be credited. Students who actively participate in class activities and complete/submit assignments on time will be given a high score. Plagiarism, cheating, or helping others to cheat is strictly forbidden.
上記の各タスクに期待される基準は、コース期間中、講師によって事前に通知されます。学生は、定期的に授業に出席し、講師が設定したすべての要件を満たすことが期待されます。全授業回数の3分の2以上欠席した場合は、単位を取得できないことがあります。授業に積極的に参加し、課題を期限内に完了・提出した学生には、高得点が与えられます。剽窃、不正行為、または不正行為を手助けすることは固く禁じられています。

When a student misses class because of an illness or unanticipated event, it is student’s responsibility to notify the instructor and provide an explanation. In the case of documented short‒term absence due to illness or other unanticipated circumstance, the instructor should provide reasonable eﬀort to accommodate the student in a way that maintains the integrity of the class.
