授業概要 / Course Description
This course is designed to help students prepare for standardized tests of the English language. Its main objective is to help students get started in their preparation to take their 1st TOEFL・IELTS test , which is widely used by foreign universities as an evaluation criterion of a prospective student's English fluency in the academic context.
In this class, students will familiarize themselves with various types of tasks concerning grammar, reading, listening, writing, and speaking, placing special emphasis on strategies to deal with the TOEFL iBT or IELTS.
The training provided in this course is not simply test-taking strategies; rather, the course focuses on building one's general academic English skills as foundation for those who plan to study aborad in the near future.
このコースは、英語の標準的なテストに備えるためのものです。このコースでは、TOEFL・IELTSの受験準備に取りかかることを主な目的としています。
このクラスでは、文法、読解、リスニング、ライティング、スピーキングの各種タスクに慣れ、特に初めてTOEFL iBTやIELTSに対応するストラテジーに重点を置いて学習していきます。
このコースで提供されるトレーニングは、単なるテスト対策ではなく、近い将来、海外留学を計画している人のための基礎となる一般的な学術英語能力の構築に重点を置いています。
★このクラスの履修と、 TOEFL/IELTSを通した英語学習 IIの併行履修はできませ ん。
※「CLIL(日本語も適宜活用しつつ行う内容と外国語の統合学習）」
この科目は、受講生の英語の理解度に合わせて、担任者が、日本語使用が適切だと判断した場合（課題説明時など）に、日本語への切り替えや日本語で補足した教材スライドを使用します。
履修する学生は以下の語学力（相当）を必要とします：
GTEC 180未満
TOEFL ITP 430未満
TOEFL iBT Test 40未満
TOEIC (L&R) Test 375未満
IELTS 4.0
英検準2級未満
CEFR A2
・本科目は、入学時及び２年進級時に受験しているプレースメントテスト（GTECまたはTOEFL ITP）のスコアを利用し、履修者が定員を超過した場合はスコア要件に合致していない学生から優先的に削除されます。また、スコア要件に合致している学生で定員を超過した場合は、無作為抽選となります。
・上記スコア以上を取得している場合は、ぜひさらなるレベル向上を目指して、留学準備スキルアップ科目の内Foundation for Academic English, ASEAN studies, KUGF Independent Study (Doing a Research in English)などの科目や、英語で開講されている専門科目(GF科目モジュール）を履修してください。なお履修に困った場合は、国際教育支援室に相談してください。
This class may adopt COIL practice (Collaborative Online International Learning), in which students will connect online with overseas students to work collaboratively to complete a project. COIL aims to provide learning opportunities for the students to gain desirable employability qualities, such as intercultural competency, digital literacy, leadership skills, ect. *For more information about COIL for this course, please directly contact the instructor or ask them at the first class.
本科目は「COIL（Collaborative Online International Learning：海外との協働学習）」を取り入れる場合があります。COILでは海外の学生とオンラインで繋がり、チームプロジェクト等を通して協働学習を行います。COILを実践することで、異文化理解力、デジタルリテラシー、リーダーシップ力等これからのグローバル人材が必要とされる能力の向上を目的としています。※COILを実施するかどうかは、担当講師に直接問い合わせるか、授業初日に確認してください。到達目標 / Course Objectives

Online Collaboration Project (COIL/VE, Use of Open Education Resources, etc.) may take place in different weeks of the semester due to coordination with an overseas institution.授業時間外学習 / Expected work outside of class
Students are expected to review and work on the assignment before attending the class every week. They should spend approximately 1‒2 hours studying outside of class in order to prepare for each class lesson.

基準・評価 / Evaluation Criteria・Assessment Policy
The expected criteria for each task indicated above will be notified by the instructor in advance throughout the course. Students are expected to attend class regularly and meet all requirements set by the instructor. Those who are absent more than two thirds of total number of classes may not be credited. Students who actively participate in class activities and complete/submit assignments on time will be given a high score. Plagiarism, cheating, or helping others to cheat is strictly forbidden.
