授業概要 / Course Description
In this course, you’ll learn the basics of marketing with a focus on Japan. We’ll cover the 4 Ps: Product, Price, Place, and Promotion, and look at how Japanese and international companies use these in real-world cases (ex. Mericari, Lawsons, Daiso). You’ll also explore glocalization, where global brands adjust to the local Japanese market (ex. Starbucks, Wendy’s). We will also examine how these companies use experiences, collaborations, seasonal products, regional recognition, influencers, pop culture, and holidays to market themselves. Furthermore, this course incorporates lectures, case study analysis, guest speakers, group discussions, student presentations, student lead teaching and hands-on project work. Last, students will conduct a team project involving market research on a selected company. Applying the 4 Ps, they will analyze existing marketing strategies, examine brand position, and develop a new creative marketing plan for a new product or campaign. This project develops practical skills in communication, innovation, market analysis, strategy development, and presentation.
