授業概要 / Course Description
1. Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) course is a fundamental course to learn and expand students’ knowledge and understanding of ICT. The course starts with the basics and will take students to a reasonable medium level.
2. The course will focus on applications of ICT in various aspects of communication, and how people can become empowered with ICT. In addition, students will learn about specific knowledge and concepts related to data science: the Internet of Things, Machine Learning, Deep Learning, SaaS, and Smart City.
3. Students can choose areas of their own interests to explore and conduct general analysis, and then present and share the findings with the class. A final team project will be required.
4. A combination of lectures, case studies, class discussions, assigned readings, self-reflection essays, and team presentations are the main methods of teaching used in this course.
5. Students are not required to have the prerequisite knowledge on the topic.
6. There is no formal textbook assigned in the course.

授業は全て英語で行われます。履修する学生は以下の語学力(相当)を必要とします:
GTEC 260以上
TOEFL ITP 505以上
TOEFL iBT 60以上

・本科目は、入学時及び2年進級時に受験しているプレースメントテスト(GTECまたはTOEFL ITP)のスコアを利用し、履修者が定員を超過した場合は上記スコア要件に合致していない学生から優先的に削除されます。本科目の受講を希望しており、GTEC受験以降に上記のスコアに相当する語学力を取得した者は、事後抽選日の2日前(土日祝日を除く)までに各種テストの証明書コピーを国際教育支援室まで提出してください。また、スコア要件に合致している学生で定員を超過した場合は、無作為抽選となります。
・上記スコアを所持していない学生は、先に留学準備スキルアップ科目を修得する等、CEFR B1以上の取得を目指してください。
本科目は「COIL(Collaborative Online International Learning:海外との協働学習)」を取り入れる場合があります。COILでは海外の学生とオンラインで繋がり、チームプロジェクト等を通して協働学習を行います。COILを実践することで、異文化理解力、デジタルリテラシー、リーダーシップ力等これからのグローバル人材が必要とされる能力の向上を目的としています。※COILを実施するかどうかは、担当講師に直接問い合わせるか、授業初日に確認してください。
This class may adopt COIL practice (Collaborative Online International Learning), in which students will connect online with overseas students to work collaboratively to complete a project. COIL aims to provide learning opportunities for students to gain desirable employability qualities, such as intercultural competency, digital literacy, leadership skills, etc. *For more information about COIL for this course, please directly contact the instructor or ask them at the first class.到達目標 / Course Objectives

Each assignment will be instructed with a set of assessment criteria when given.
IMPORTANT: Delayed submissions will face a penalty of a 10% reduction of gained scores per day.

Other Comments This course will be beneficial to those who are planning on studying abroad in the near future. In order to achieve a higher level of understanding and command in ICT, the course will offer contents full of the-state-of-the-art technologies.
