授業概要 / Course Description
This course provides an overview of Japanese classical literature, spanning from the Nara period to the early modern era. Through readings, discussions, and analysis of selected works, students will explore the rich literary traditions of Japan, including poetry, prose, and drama. Emphasis will be placed on understanding the cultural, historical, and aesthetic contexts of these works, as well as their enduring significance in Japanese literature and society.
Students are strongly recommended to have at least TOEIC Score 580 (TOEFL iBT Score 60) in order to obtain a passing grade from this course. Those who do not have the requested scores but wish to enroll need to consult with the instructor prior to registering.
授業は全て英語で行われます。履修する学生は以下の語学力(相当)を必要とします:
GTEC 260以上
TOEFL ITP 505以上
TOEFL iBT 60以上
TOEIC 580以上
IELTS 5.0
英検準1級以上

・本科目は、入学時及び2年進級時に受験しているプレースメントテスト(GTECまたはTOEFL ITP)のスコアを利用し、履修者が定員を超過した場合は上記スコア要件に合致していない学生から優先的に削除されます。本科目の受講を希望しており、GTEC受験以降に上記のスコアに相当する語学力を取得した者は、事後抽選日の2日前(土日祝日を除く)までに各種テストの証明書コピーを国際教育支援室まで提出してください。また、スコア要件に合致している学生で定員を超過した場合は、無作為抽選となります。
・上記スコアを所持していない学生は、先に留学準備スキルアップ科目を修得する等、CEFR B1以上の取得を目指してください。到達目標 / Course Objectives

定期試験を行わず、平常試験(小テスト・レポート等)で総合評価する。
Students will be evaluated based on participation, weekly preparation, assignments and research.

Attendance:
* being absent more than two thirds of the total number of classes may result in a failing grade (attend at least 10 sessions!).
* being late more than 15 minutes is counted as absence; being late more than three times is counted as absence.
* there is no need to inform the instructor when absent, but group members should be informed
Plagiarism: strictly forbidden!
Language: the discussion will be conducted in English; some explanations in Japanese might be provided by the instructor when necessary
