授業概要 / Course Description
This course aims to develop students’ critical thinking skills in the context of social and global issues. It will explore various topics such as climate change, AI, economic inequality, business, and international relations. Students will learn to analyze these issues from multiple perspectives, evaluate arguments, and develop their own informed opinions.

This class may adopt COIL practice (Collaborative Online International Learning), in which students will connect online with overseas students to work collaboratively to complete a project. COIL aims to
provide learning opportunities for the students to gain desirable employability qualities, such as intercultural competency, digital literacy, leadership skills, etc. *For more information about COIL for this

授業は全て英語で行われます。履修する学生は以下の語学力（相当）を必要とします：
GTEC 260以上
TOEFL ITP 505以上
TOEFL iBT 60以上
TOEIC 580以上
IELTS 5.0
英検準１級以上
CEFR B1
・本科目は、入学時及び２年進級時に受験しているプレースメントテスト（GTECまたはTOEFL ITP）のスコアを利用し、履修者が定員を超過した場合は上記スコア要件に合致していない学生から優先的に削除されます。本科目の受講を希望しており、GTEC受験以降に上記のスコアに相当する語学力を取得した者は、事後抽選日の2日前（土日祝日を除く）までに各種テストの証明書コピーを国際教育支援室まで提出してください。また、スコア要件に合致している学生で定員を超過した場合は、無作為抽選となります。
・上記スコアを所持していない学生は、先に留学準備スキルアップ科目を修得する等、CEFR B1以上の取得を目指してください。到達目標 / Course Objectives

Participation, Discussion, & Assignments – Students should comprehend course material, then connect, apply, analyze, evaluate, and create new knowledge and ideas. Students should try and contribute to the class by sharing their experiences, feelings, ideas, and opinions.
Presentation & Writing (Content) – Content should address the assignment, be new, interesting, and specific for the audience, organized, clear, and include examples and explanations.
Presentation (Delivery & Visuals) – Delivery should include a clear voice, appropriate body language and gestures, and natural eye contact with the audience. Visuals should be simple, relevant, and organized.
Teamwork – Teamwork must include respectful communication, being responsible for your work, and a fair division of work.

Other Comments [IMPORTANT NOTICE!]
・Some sessions of this class will be offered online(LIVE Remote Class style), using zoom as the communication tool. The instructor will announce more information about the online sessions.
・Zoom URL will be notified to the students via KU-LMS (Notification function).
This is a part of KU-EOL program, in which overseas students will also join this class remotely for a few months. (*They will not be taking the course full term.)
・All EOL sessions were online until FY2023, but starting in FY2024, the course format will be to take at least 8 face-to-face sessions in a classroom. Students are required to confirm the classroom location.
・LMS (to be announced in the class) is used as the platform of this course. More details will be notified in the first week class.
・PC is required for the course (not via tablet or smart phone).
・This class will be recorded to be provided to students, who are unable to attend due to unavoidable circumstances.
