授業概要 / Course Description
This is a survey course that introduces students to the cultures of Japan, China, and Korea. The course does not assume prior knowledge of the languages or cultures of East Asia; it provides a general background for further study. Excerpts from the textbook will be used as reading material. Students are expected to read them before coming to class in order to participate in class discussion.
授業は全て英語で行われます。履修する学生は以下の語学力（相当）を必要とします：
GTEC 260以上
TOEFL ITP 505以上
TOEFL iBT 60以上
TOEIC 580以上
IELTS 5.0
英検準１級以上
CEFR B1
・本科目は、入学時及び２年進級時に受験しているプレースメントテスト（GTECまたはTOEFL ITP）のスコアを利用し、履修者が定員を超過した場合は上記スコア要件に合致していない学生から優先的に削除されます。本科目の受講を希望しており、GTEC受験以降に上記のスコアに相当する語学力を取得した者は、事後抽選日の2日前（土日祝日を除く）までに各種テストの証明書コピーを国際教育支援室まで提出してください。また、スコア要件に合致している学生で定員を超過した場合は、無作為抽選となります。
・上記スコアを所持していない学生は、先に留学準備スキルアップ科目を修得する等、CEFR B1以上の取得を目指してください。到達目標 / Course Objectives
The objective of this course is to provide students with basic cultural literacy in various aspects of the cultures of Japan, China, and Korea.

定期試験を行わず、平常試験(小テスト・レポート等)で総合評価する。
Group presentations (2): 50%
Active participation in class discussions: 25%

Presentation topics will be assigned to students at the beginning of the course based on their area of interest. They should build and expand on the weekly reading and include slides with images and text.
The reports should be a minimum of two pages on some aspect of Asian culture that is of interest to the student. They should have in-text references and a short bibliography. (Please incorporate what you have learned throughout the course (self-evaluation)).
