授業概要 / Course Description
“What is Europe?”, “Europe and Asia” have been the two major topics in the history of the modern world. They apply to the contemporary world taking into consideration the enlargement of the EU and the rapidly developed Asian economy. Moreover, since the end of the cold war, the concept of Euro-American western world is beginning to change due to the deepening of economic globalization and confrontation between Europe and America concerning politics, economy and security problems. The lecture will examine the role of Europe and its key issues in the contemporary world.
授業は全て英語で行われます。履修する学生は以下の語学力（相当）を必要とします：
GTEC 260以上
TOEFL ITP 505以上
TOEFL iBT 60以上
TOEIC 580以上
IELTS 5.0
英検準１級以上
CEFR B1
・本科目は、入学時及び２年進級時に受験しているプレースメントテスト（GTECまたはTOEFL ITP）のスコアを利用し、履修者が定員を超過した場合は上記スコア要件に合致していない学生から優先的に削除されます。本科目の受講を希望しており、GTEC受験以降に上記のスコアに相当する語学力を取得した者は、事後抽選日の2日前（土日祝日を除く）までに各種テストの証明書コピーを国際教育支援室まで提出してください。また、スコア要件に合致している学生で定員を超過した場合は、無作為抽選となります。
・上記スコアを所持していない学生は、先に留学準備スキルアップ科目を修得する等、CEFR B1以上の取得を目指してください。
到達目標 / Course Objectives
The objectives of the course are to deepen knowledge on various aspects of European and Asian development with special emphasis on the role of Europe in the contemporary world. Selected key issues will be presented and discussed from a comparative point of view.

定期試験を行わず、平常試験(小テスト・レポート等)で総合評価する。
Grades for this course will be based on class work and presentation (40％), quizzes（20％), and written assignments（40％).

Students will be expected to be able to grasp the content, analyze selected key issues and demonstrate their understanding through assignments in order to earn credit for the course.
