授業概要 / Course Description
This course introduces students to important issues in contemporary Japanese society. Topics covered include demographic and generational variations; business and the workplace; education; gender and ethnicity; the political system; popular culture; and social control and dissent. The course takes an interdisciplinary approach and draws upon psychological, sociological, anthropological and other human sciences approaches to the study of culture and social interaction.
授業は全て英語で行われます。履修する学生は以下の語学力(相当)を必要とします:
GTEC 260以上
TOEFL ITP 505以上
TOEFL iBT 60以上
TOEIC 580以上
IELTS 5.0
英検準1級以上
CEFR B1
・本科目は、入学時及び2年進級時に受験しているプレースメントテスト(GTECまたはTOEFL ITP)のスコアを利用し、履修者が定員を超過した場合は上記スコア要件に合致していない学生から優先的に削除されます。本科目の受講を希望しており、GTEC受験以降に上記のスコアに相当する語学力を取得した者は、事後抽選日の2日前(土日祝日を除く)までに各種テストの証明書コピーを国際教育支援室まで提出してください。また、スコア要件に合致している学生で定員を超過した場合は、無作為抽選となります。
・上記スコアを所持していない学生は、先に留学準備スキルアップ科目を修得する等、CEFR B1以上の取得を目指してください。

Assessment:
The course will be assessed through participation in weekly activities during lecture sessions (60%) and with an end of semester multimedia project that will require students to document some aspects of Japanese society (40%). The project can be completed as a solo project or as a group project.基準・評価 / Evaluation Criteria・Assessment Policy
Assessment:
Participation in course activities will make students eligible for C (60%) and B (70%) grades upon course completion.
Completion of the final multimedia project will make students eligible for A (80%) and S (90-100%) grades upon course completion.
