授業概要 / Course Description
This course offers an exploration of Japanese arts, focusing on key concepts, aesthetic principles, and philosophical foundations that have shaped various art forms throughout history. Rather than following a strict chronological framework, the course delves into the essence of Japanese artistic expression, drawing connections between traditional and contemporary practices. Through a combination of readings, discussions, presentations, field trips, and guest lectures, students will deepen their appreciation of various arts such as the way of tea, gardens, calligraphy or pottery, and understand their importance in Japanese culture and society.
Students are strongly recommended to have at least TOEIC Score 580 (TOEFL iBT Score 60) in order to obtain a passing grade from this course. Those who do not have the requested scores but wish to enroll need to consult with the instructor prior to registering.
